How to Have Free Fun in Orlando and Central Florida

You can spend thousands of dollars as a tourist in central Florida. But if your budget is extremely tight, never fear. You can have fun in the Orlando, Florida, area for next to nothing.
Enjoy the free entertainment at Downtown Disney, Lake Eola Park, Cranes Roost Park and Museum.
Downtown Disney has stores and restaurants where you can spend a lot of money, but thrifty tourists enjoy strolling along the boardwalk and window shopping. The Lego displays and little playground will interest the children. Water taxi rides are free, but you must exit at the destinations and catch another water taxi back to Downtown Disney. Special events occur throughout the year, especially at the holiday season. Free parking is plentiful, especially in the areas away from the main entrance. Address: 1780 N. Lake Eola Park is on the east side of downtown Orlando. Walk around the lake, feed the wild birds, and enjoy the special events. If you have a local library card, the public library is a short walk away. Free parking is available on the side streets east of the park, but you might have to search for it. Lake Eola Park is at 195 N.Rosalind Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801. Orlando Public Library, open seven days a week, hosts library programs for all ages. The library is at 101 E. Central Blvd., Orlando, FL 32801. Library telephone: 407.835.7323.
Cranes Roost Park and adjacent Uptown Altamonte offer walking, jogging, music and special events. Concert goers bring their own folding chairs and catch cool breezes off the lake as they picnic. Located next to Altamonte Mall and near the Altamonte Springs I-4 exit, parking is easiest to find near the mall. Address: 274 Cranes Roost Blvd., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701.
Florida Trails offers hiking, historical walks, trail care, bike rides, and canoeing. Contact event sponsors listed at the web site to confirm that an event is open to the public.
